As a mother of three and a woman of a “certain” age, Dr. Jennifer Matthesen knows all too well the changes that can come with time and life’s cherished events. Trained as a surgeon “B.C.” (before children), she first experienced cosmetic surgery as a patient herself, through a series of procedures to regain her pre-baby body. She knows exactly how challenging it is to consider having an aesthetic procedure, to weigh the risks and benefits, to gather the data to make an informed decision, and to select a surgeon to trust. Combining personal experience with surgical expertise, she is uniquely qualified to guide and support her patients through the very individual process of self-improvement and self-care through cosmetic surgery. 

Dr. Matthesen graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Berkeley, and received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) Geffen School of Medicine. She completed an internship in Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by a residency in General Surgery at the University of Michigan. She was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Scholar at the National institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, as well as the recipient of multiple merit-based awards, honors, and research grants. She acquired advanced training in Transplant Surgery at Stanford University, and has extensive experience performing surgery for breast cancer. She pursued her interest in aesthetic procedures with a fellowship in cosmetic surgery of the body and face at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City, OK, a busy private office practice with its own accredited surgery center.

Dr. Matthesen is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons, the American Society of Cosmetic Physicians, the Frederick Coller Surgical Society, the Florida Medical Association, and the Duval County Medical Society.
