I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a double mastectomy. Dr. Olaya was referred to me by my Oncologist and I will be forever grateful. Dr. Olaya reconstructed my breast and did an amazing job. She cares about her patients and took all my calls when I had questions. She was always honest with me and never over promised. I will have to say my breast look better now than they did before my double mastectomy. She is very talented and after seeing others who have gone through what I have and had a bad outcome, I am so glad that I had her as my surgeon. She made a very tough time easier for me and she will always hold a special place in my heart. She gave me my confidence back and I trust her 100%. I am so thankful to her. She was an angel that God sent at a very difficult time.

She is very nice and has a lot of energy. I was confident when I hired her. I did my due diligence- her reviews are high. Unfortunately, after every conversation and meeting you are sent a review request so the reviews look outstanding. However, Dr. Olaya was hired to reduce one side to match the side having a lumpectomy and lift both. They were lifted but I now have one B and one C+ size breast. I had to insist that I see the doctor post surgery as I was automatically scheduled with the PA every time. When I finally saw Dr. Olaya, her response was simply to operate again. Well, I may do that but definitely not with this doctor. Absolutely no accountability that of the 2 things she was hired for, she only did one. This review is 1 year post surgery as I wanted to make sure all healing was complete before typing an accounting of what resulted from her work. Also, this is not an angry review - that she was expected to clean up another's work and I had unrealistic expectations. It is her work and the expectations I had were set by her. Very disappointed.

GO TO SOMEONE ELSE! YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. My wife was a fairly standard case of double mastectomy with reconstruction. After TWO expanders ruptured (My wife was not in any accidents or heavy impacts. The only feasible reason would be punctured during surgery.), Dr. O. made the call to put another expander back into a radiated and already "Angry" breast. This was the catastrophic move that changed everything for the worse. On top of that, the office staff is terrible about managing referrals and following through with their duties in a timely fashion. After the first botched surgery, we begged for hyperbaric chamber treatment to aid healing, and it took them over a month of incorrectly writing referrals and not following through with correcting their mistakes, before my wife finally got into hyperbarics. It was too late. Her skin had gone necrotic, and the expander was erupting out of her chest. We could see the plastic coming through her rotten skin. Now my wife has no chance of reconstruction from her double mastectomy, and deals with chronic pain and discomfort. Months after her last (Botched) surgery, my wife still has an open, leaking wound in her chest that will not close up. She now has a team of wound care doctors and hyperbaric treatments to attempt to fix the complications Dr. O. left her with. One of the best decisions we ever made was to fire Dr. O. and move on to someone who isn't a total disappointment. Dr. O. and her team made repeated, botched surgeries and very obvious, poor judgment calls at nearly every decision-making point. (We have had multiple other doctors confirm that her choices and procedures were uncommon and caused the current problems we have.). Dr. O. basically ruined my wife's life, and mine as well. Everything is worse since she messed up multiple procedures and openly admitted that she was out of her depth. Stay away from this hack. I only wish I had realized sooner, how inept and terrible this doctor's entire practice is. She is incompetent and cares more for her own reputation than the health of her patients. Her sister, the practice manager, is so, so, rude, unhelpful, and un-sympathetic. The nurse practitioner made no less than four shifty judgment calls before we refused to let her make decisions for my wife's treatment. By the end, we were openly disagreeing with her and not allowing her to make the moves she was recommending. (Such as removing drains and stiches WAY too soon) Such a long story... There was at least half a dozen failed procedures / terrible judgment calls, before we lost complete trust and moved on to a reputable plastic surgeon. We are now trapped in a seemingly endless cycle of wound care treatment and despair after Dr. O. and her staff failed us over and over again

Dr. Olaya started off good until one thing left to another. My breast reconstruction was put off for two years and I was left with a tissue expander for that entire time. Not to mention every Drs appointment I was always charged and my insurance was never used, due to an emergency procedure that was unexpectedly needed that I ended up paying for out of pocket. I had to get my reconstruction done with another doctor because I was being quoted $8,000+ from Pink Plastic Surgery to get my tissue expander replaced and to get her half done job fixed as well.

I waiting a year before posting this review to see if I had any improvement. Please let me begin by saying Dr. Olaya comes HIGHLY recommended from my oncologist for mastectomy and reconstruction. I, however, needed a reduction on one side and a lift of the radiated breast. The result were uneven breasts (we are told "they are to be sisters, not twins" - mine ended up being distant cousins). The nipples are different, and the scaring has left parts of breasts hard. It is truly disappointing.
