Dr. O’Toole began his studies at the University of California, Irvine, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. He went on to earn his medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine. He completed his post-graduate internship in general surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital—including a year as chief resident.
Following this, Dr. O’Toole decided to turn to plastic and reconstructive surgery. He trained in this specialty at Texas A&M University College of Medicine/Scott and White Medical Center. It was this education and training that allowed Dr. O’Toole to develop a comprehensive knowledge of many types of reconstructive and cosmetic surgical procedures
