Dr. Joseph F. Capella is a nationally and internationally recognized leading expert in body contouring surgery. He lectures and provides instructional courses on a regular basis at the symposia of some of the most prestigious plastic surgery organizations in the world: The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and The Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Capella has co-authored several of the most important textbooks on plastic surgery: The Art of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery: Principles and Techniques, 2nd edition, Plastic Surgery, 3rd edition and Body Contouring and Liposuction. He has written many peer-reviewed articles and has been featured in the media numerous times including ABC’s 20/20, The View, Elle Magazine and CNBC and was recently included in the Top 10 List of plastic surgeons in New York.

Dr. Capella’s entire practice is dedicated to cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery after weight loss. He is committed to providing the very best results in these important areas of plastic surgery. His experience is extensive. He has been in practice for over 20 years and has performed well over 10,000 cosmetic surgery and body contouring after weight loss surgical procedures. Specifically, he has performed over 6000 body contouring surgical procedures on weight loss patients. This represents one of the largest experiences in the world. He has the largest published series of arm lifts, body lifts and thigh lifts in the world on the massive weight loss patient.

Following completion of a fellowship in plastic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Joseph F. Capella joined his father, Dr. Rafael F. Capella, a world renowned bariatric surgeon and founding member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Joseph F. Capella went on to assist his father on over 1000 bariatric procedures.
