After graduating Summa Cum Laude at Duke University, Dr. Luppens received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA. After completing a comprehensive residency in plastic surgery, Dr. Luppens sought additional training completing two six-month cosmetic fellowships (PACES Plastic Surgery, Atlanta, GA; Grossman/Capraro Plastic Surgery, Denver, CO). These fellowships consisted of expert training in cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and body – with additional cosmetic and functional eyelid surgery emphasis while at PACES.

Prior to joining Peninsula Plastic Surgery, Dr. Luppens was an Associate Professor in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA. At VCU Dr. Luppens supervised a cosmetic surgery clinic and trained residents in these procedures. Most recently, he worked as a surgeon on the Plastic Surgery Specialists team at Cone Medical Group in NC.

Dr. Luppens is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). His professional interests include cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and body along with eyelid surgery, facial trauma, skin cancer surgery and reconstruction, laser skin treatments and Botox and filler injectables.

With experience working in a level 1 trauma center, he is adept at extensive reconstructive needs and cosmetic surgery. Professional and approachable, Dr. Luppens believes good communication is important to achieving cosmetic and reconstructive goals in plastic surgery.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He enjoys cycling, coaching youth soccer, listening to music and all types of fishing.
