Dr. Laura (Doshier) McNaughton is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who graduated at the top of her class from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. Prior to medical school, she was awarded a full academic scholarship to Augustana University in Sioux Falls from which she graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Economics and Biology. She was the first medical student in the history of the University of South Dakota to be accepted directly into a highly competitive, integrated plastic surgery residency, which she completed at her first choice, the University of Missouri. While there, she became extensively trained in breast and skin cancer reconstruction, surgery of the hand, and cosmetic surgery of the face and body.

Dr. McNaughton was born in Rapid City, South Dakota and had always hoped to return to the upper Midwest after completion of her professional training. Her husband, Jim McNaughton, was born on a farm outside Le Mars, Iowa and has worked as a CFP® professional with the Siouxland Investment Group in downtown Sioux City for several years. Due to his ties to the region, Dr. McNaughton and her husband chose Siouxland as the area to establish her practice and raise their two sons.

Dr. McNaughton worked for two years in the Siouxland area before deciding to form her own practice – McNaughton Plastic Surgery – in the Summer of 2019. With this endeavor, she dreams of continuing to offer her patients candid and respectful consultations followed by outstanding surgical results and supportive after care in a setting specifically dedicated to the practice of Plastic Surgery.

Since arriving in the Siouxland area, Dr. McNaughton has been recognized in 2017 for writing the “Best Emerging Author” paper on cosmetic breast surgery for the internationally-renowned journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She has also been honored in both 2018 and 2019 by Siouxland’s Choice Awards as offering the “Best Plastic/Cosmetic Surgery.” In 2019, her alma mater - the University of South Dakota - recognized Dr. McNaughton with its “Emerging Leader” Alumni Achievement Award. During her professional training, Dr. McNaughton published clinical research on cosmetic breast surgery and pediatric craniosynostosis.
