Dr. David Caplin, a board-certified plastic surgeon, is a native of New York City. He received his undergraduate degree with honors from Kenyon College and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society.

He completed his training in general surgery at Barnes-Jewish hospital and his residency in plastic surgery at Barnes hospital. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Caplin has extensive experience in facial cosmetic surgery. He has a special interest in deep plane facelifts, suspension necklifts, eyelid surgery, browlifts and facial fat grafting. Many patients come to him requesting revision of facial surgical procedures that were performed elsewhere. He has decades of experience with these techniques and designs these procedures to be both highly effective and natural in appearance.

His specific interest in breast surgery has led to his involvement, as a principal investigator in numerous FDA sanctioned national studies to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new breast implants, including mentor memory shape implants. Patients commonly refer to these as “gummy bear” implants and Dr. Caplin was one of the two highest volume users of these implants in the United States during the memory shape FDA clinical trials.

He dedicates a large part of his practice to performing breast lifts, breast reductions and revisional breast surgery including removal and/or replacement of breast implants. Additionally, Dr. Caplin has authored or co-authored numerous papers on a variety of breast implant related topics as well as facial cosmetic surgical procedures. He has extensive experience revising facial cosmetic surgery and breast surgery (both with and without implants) performed by other surgeons.
