Dr. Terry Myckatyn became a doctor in 1997, had a six-year residency, and began practicing in 2003. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He serves as president of the Saint Louis Association of Plastic Surgeons (SLAPS). He serves on several committees with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). These committees look at patient safety, studying the efficacy of emerging technologies and techniques, plastic surgeon education in breast and cosmetic surgery, as well as improving research in plastic surgery. He has also been admitted by his peers to the prestigious American Association of Plastic Surgeons.

At West County Plastic Surgeons of Washington University, Dr. Myckatyn focuses on all areas of cosmetic surgery and breast reconstruction.

Dr. Myckatyn is a professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery and is the Director of Breast Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. By training several plastic surgery residents and fellows annually, he is involved with educating the next generation of plastic surgeons about cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Dr. Myckatyn completed an honors bachelor's of science program in human physiology, and then earned his doctorate of medicine at the University of British Columbia. He completed his plastic surgery residency and fellowship training at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

He is the author of more than 80 peer-reviewed research articles, textbook chapters, and has been a featured presenter at national and international plastic surgical and medical conferences.
