Dr. Fernando G. Serra was born in Easton, PA, and spent his childhood in Bushnell, FL, inspired by his father, Gene Serra MD, a retired general surgeon.

“I accompanied my father during hospital rounds on the weekends and helped out in his office in Leesburg, FL. At a relatively young age, I already knew that I wanted to be a physician.”

Early Life and Education:

• High School: South Sumter High School (Class Valedictorian, 1985)
• Undergraduate: University of Florida, Gainesville
• Medical Degree: University of Florida (M.D., 1992)

Dr. Serra participated in the prestigious Junior Honors Medical Program at the University of Florida, combining his bachelor of science and medical degrees in a 7-year accelerated program.

He was introduced to plastic surgery during this period, completing externships with Dr. Hal Bingham, then Chief of Plastic Surgery at UF.
