Anke Ott Young MD., Ph.D. grew up in Wadern - Nunkirchen a small village in the state of Saarland in Germany.  She studied medicine at the University of the Saarland in Homburg where she graduated in 1990. She earned her doctorate degree with Magna cum Laude in Forensic Psychiatry and worked as an Otorhinolaryngology resident before moving to NY. 

Her General Surgery training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center was followed by Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at Nassau County Medical Center. She subsequently completed a Microsurgery and Cancer Reconstruction Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. 

From the beginning of her career, she focused on breast reconstruction and returned to Germany to enroll into the EUSOMA Oncoplastic Fellowship where she worked with Prof. Werner Audretsch in Dusseldorf.

Returning to the US she was able to offer the full spectrum of advanced Oncoplastic Techniques for patients in need of Breast Conservation Therapies. 

 The use of oncoplastic methods also allowed her to offer  Direct to Implant Reconstructions  - avoiding time-consuming and painful tissue expander procedures for mastectomy reconstructions. Wise pattern mastectomies made it possible to offer Single Stage Nipple Sparing Reconstructions to patients of all body types including obese patients and patients with large breasts.

Dr. Ott Young has perfected the use of autologous fat transfer allowing her to avoid more invasive autologous flap surgeries in patients with or without previous radiation therapy.
