Education

Dr. Jacobs received a degree from The University of Rochester in 1968 and attended Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he graduated cum laude in 1971. From 1971 through 1975, he studied at Vanderbilt University, completing a combined residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery and general surgery. He remained at Vanderbilt as the Acting Chairman of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery until 1977, when he moved to Virginia Beach to complete a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine.

Experience & Certifications

Dr. Jacobs has been practicing plastic surgery in the Hampton Roads area for the last 35 years and has been on the faculty of our medical school that entire time. Locally, he has volunteered as an interviewer for candidates for admission to Eastern Virginia Medical School and was Chairman of the Surgical Executive Committee at Sentara Leigh Hospital for seven years. Currently the Associate Professor of Clinical Plastic Surgery at EVMS, Dr. Jacobs has contributed substantially to medical literature by publishing 47 scientific papers and book chapters. He is an alumni interviewer for students wishing admission to Vanderbilt University.
