Overall, I'd give the place 4 stars, but I had two exceptional experiences recently I wanted to highlight that were each 5-star worthy. The situation is that after getting a Rx from NW Eye and having a new pair of glasses made elsewhere, I was noticing that my vision was not corrected as well as it could be. This led me to go into NW eye clinic's optical department at the Wayzata branch. The certified optician Sandra was super warm and personable and extraordinarily knowledgeable as an optician. She checked that my glasses were made to specs (which they were), laid correctly on my face (which they did), taught me eye exercises that might help reduce tiredness from long computer usage (20-20-20 rule), and discussed with me potential reasons why the glasses might not be working for me (though she acknowledged the eye doctor would be able to best assess). Since I had mentioned a concern regarding glasses for driving, she also discussed various accessory options which would enable me to not have to buy a new pair. She allowed me to take a few pairs of polarized (fit-overs) to test right outside the clinic building. I ultimately left with one because the fit-over product when product tested showed its utility. My mom and I both agreed that Sandra provided exceptional customer service throughout the visit. At that visit, a vision re-check appointment was also scheduled through the front office staff. When I came for the vision re-check, Sandra checked the specs of my old and new glasses pairs prior to me seeing the doctor/assistant for the recheck. Dr. Emily Ellingson, OD was exceptional in working to finalize an updated Rx for me. (She was personable and really knew her stuff. It was also clear that she was devoted to getting a patient's sight corrected as well as it could be.) In the future, if the need arose, I'd be happy to work with either of them again. Both were very professional and knowledge and also pleasant to work with. I will very likely see if Dr. Ellingson is available next time I need an annual vision exam.

Dr. Dovich, the provider on call Sunday, drove up to Golden Valley from Edina on the slushy streets to open that office in order to remove the foreign material, a metal fragment, from my eye. WOW! Talk about outstanding patient care!

Words can’t express my appreciation for the whole staff especially Dr Ehlen. Very caring, never rushed. Love to have him as my primary doctor. Love to see more doctors like him.

Deeply disappointed in the lack of empathy, and quality of care from providers and staff. Requested an interpreter and they did not provide one. My mother was seen here and diagnosed with a virus and Dr. Chinwuba REFUSED to provide a doctors note for her employer. We asked multiple times throughout the session and she did not provide any. She provided my mother with medication and did not go over any side effects at all. Went to go pick up her medication and was informed by the pharmacist that side effects were dizziness and it will impair you driving.. We contacted the triage nurse line the next day, and mentioned that she had the side effects. The nurse mentioned she should’ve gotten a note… expressed to them that we did NOT. If you are going to provide your patients with medication that is going to impair their sight, physical limitations that causes them to not be able to drive and become dizzy, you should be writing a doctors note to excuse them for work… it should not take over 3 calls to connect with a professional and get this message across to you. Highly disappointed in the care this team provided for my mother. We will not be coming here again.
