Dr. Markarian started high school at the age of 11, and college at the age of 15.  He studied Biology and Criminology at the University of California, Irvine, completed his Master of Science in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology at Emory University and then performed clinical research at Yale University. He returned to Georgia to attend medical school and subsequently traveled across the country to complete six years of General Surgery Residency and three years of Plastic Surgery Residency. He then completed an additional year of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship at Harvard University. Following the completion of his training, he became a candidate member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.  Dr. Markarian’s primary office is in Wellesley MA.

While he was honing his skills as a Plastic Surgeon in Boston, Dr. Mark Markarian was also an active contributor to the field of plastic surgery, authoring numerous articles and chapters in many prominent journals including Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Clinics in Plastic Surgery and Annals of Plastic Surgery.  He had the opportunity to present clinical research at multiple plastic surgery conferences including the annual meetings of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgery, and the California Society of Plastic Surgery.  He was also selected to be a reviewer for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery Journal, and will be editing and authoring chapters in an upcoming Plastic Surgery review textbook.
