Profile

Although I was raised in Sacramento, California, I have traveled extensively to bring the worldly perspective to my practice. I left Fresno, California to attend the University of California Berkeley, where I double majored in science and humanitarian studies. Since then, I have moved around the country and explored the world. Following the footsteps of my mother, who has been practicing family medicine, I attended medical school at Tufts University in Boston and earned MD and MBA degrees. I completed my General Surgery residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. During my residency, my interest for reconstructive surgery grew immensely when I assisted in head and neck, trunk and breast reconstruction after big oncologic extirpation. Following my interest, I trained at the University of Miami’s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program. As I approached the end of my training, I developed an interest in being a well-rounded and complete surgeon, one who can treat and manage peripheral nerves, bone and joint diseases in addition to internal organs and soft tissues. Therefore, I pursued a hand fellowship at the University of California, Davis.

This place is not wheelchair accessible. I called beforehand to see if was, and if they had a table that could lower so I could transfer. They said yes. I get there waited over an hour, then called me into a narrow hallway where I had people literally climbing over me to get past. The first room they put me in was filled with chairs, I couldn’t move my wheelchair at all. The second room they put me in had an extremely high table that my able bodied mother would even struggle to get on. They expected me to get on that knowing I couldn’t. They then took me to the back room where it looked like a storage room where they had a bed close to the ground. I couldn’t get my chair in, and couldn’t even shut the door to get my dressing gown on. Not to mention they were trying to make me put it on and go across the hallway while people were passing by, and I said no. This experience was extremely degrading and embarrassing. I do not recommend this place to elderly or those with disabilities. Stay far away. Side note they stated they tried helping me transfer, they didn’t at all. They offered to help me on the extremely tall bed, but that was completely dangerous especially since I have a full spinal fusion and since the beginning they knew I couldn’t use it in the first place. So that’s a complete lie about them helping me on the lower bed, they only just stared at me and waited. We also didn’t storm out, I was on the verge of tears from the embarrassment and needed to leave. Their so called procedure room where the bed was, was so small my wheelchair couldn’t fit, I was half in the room and half in the hallway. The door wasn’t even able to close.

I had a breast reduction in late February. I had chronic back pain for YEARS. And it was getting worse. So I sought out help from Dr. Tran and his team. They are wonderful! Everything went as smooth as silk. From referrals to authorizations to scheduling to the actual surgery and the follow up appointments. His team really worked with me when it came to the scheduling and I am forever grateful. The La Veta surgery center was great as well. Staff there were great too. The surgery went MUCH better than I could have ever anticipated! I had NO problems what so ever. And I knew that if I had any questions or concerns, a reassuring answer was just a phone call away. I have absolutely wonderful results! I am practically healed, I am happy and feel like a new woman thanks to Dr. Tran and his expertise. I am even going to return after some time to get a few more procedures with Dr. Tran. I trust him and his team that much. Don't be afraid, if you want to change your appearance and your life, I really encourage you to reach out to Dr. Tran's office and see how he can help you. Thank you! : )

I have had rheumatoid arthritis for 10 years since I was in Vietnam. This has led to three fingers on my left hand being deformed. I was introduced by a person who was a patient of Dr. Tuan A Tran. I went to his office with the desire to have plastic surgery so that the fingers can be straightened only. I had surgery on 8/9/2021 to replace the interphalangeal joint in my left index and middle finger and boutonnieres correction in ring finger. Two weeks after surgery, the wounds were still open and the fingers were still swollen. I was very worried but I understand wounds take time to heal. I did not eat foods like beef, sticky rice, or seafood to prevent my wounds from becoming itchy, red and leaving keloid scars. I cleaned the wounds as directed by the doctor every day until the wounds were completely healed, about two months, and combined with regular hand exercises. I'm happy with my hand right now. My fingers not only straightened, but I could type or hold things. Looking at the scars, I can feel that the doctor has carefully considered when operating so my scars can look so faint. I can understand the doctor's job is always busy with exams and surgeries, which are stressful and responsible, so he looks strict. I sympathize with him. He always puts work efficiency first. I am very grateful to Dr. Tuan A Tran for giving me a hand that to me is not only beautiful but also can work. Thank you to his staff for being friendly, willing to answer, and supporting me by phone or when I come to his office.
