Nov 22, 2024I called regarding scheduling a consult for breast reduction several months ago. First of all the woman who answered sounded like she was trying to seduce me over the phone with heavy breathing, sultry voice, and tongue clicks....very weird and it really turned me off. She was also whispering to someone else while I was speaking which was very unprofessional but I heard her say "don't let the insurance be the first thing you say to them" (I think she thought she muted me while training someone).
One of my first questions was asking if the office took my insurance. The woman ignored my question and asked what procedure I was looking to have done. I had already told her but she was busy talking to the other person to actually listen. I stated again that I was looking to get a breast reduction done due to my back pain. She responded by saying she could get me scheduled for a consult with Dr. Bruno for a fee of $150.00. Again, she completely avoided my question and then had the nerve to say she wanted my name and date of birth to start a chart on me. I had not even asked to schedule a consult, I was calling to ask a few clarifying questions about the office. Needless to say, she made me very uncomfortable. She seemed like a sales person hoping to rope me in. Again, I asked if they took my insurance and get this, she reluctantly admitted that THEY DON'T PARTICIPATE WITH INSURANCE. No wonder she was beating around the bush. They don't want people to know that they don't participate so they can bribe them into paying the consult fees. DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU SEE ONLINE, THEY DON'T TAKE INSURANCE. I find it very cruel that they keep people in the dark about such things. A lot of people looking to get plastic surgery are in a vulnerable position and should be entitled to all the information before locking themselves into anything. It was such a bizarre phone call. I'm so glad I refused to give her anymore information and told her I would call back if I needed them.
Anyways, I was able to find a plastic surgeon in NY who took my insurance and he did a phenomenal job! Now that this process is over, I thought it would be best to leave this comment and inform people who are going through this vulnerable process because I don't want anyone else to fall prey to this scheme.
